It is a Chinese tradition to give golden charms to
one month old newborn babies, newlyweds, students with good grades on entrance exams,
people receiving promotions, or as birthday gifts for elderly people or offerings to gods for
wishes that have been granted. The golden charm symbolizes good blessings, and it is referred
to in Chinese as a “golden lock charm”, because it is believed that it can lock in wealth, peace,
longevity, and happiness.
